London’s ISLAND are happy to share their new single “Everyone’s The Same.” "Everyone’s The Same" is the sludgy follow up to ISLAND’s previous shimmering single "Octopus.” The contrast between the two tracks perfectly highlights the band’s unique dynamic range and risk taking in their new songwriting process. The grungy slacker slow-jam begins with a simple statement proposed deceivingly softly by singer Rollo Doherty. The moment you feel safe, the band chimes in to add an exclamation point with their instruments. For the next three minutes, distorted bass lines and chunky, to-the-point drums ooze into your psyche while the reverb drenched lead guitar hooks you in and perfectly compliments the raspy and catchy cacophony. “Everyone’s The Same” is out today via Frenchkiss Records.

“'Everyone’s The Same' is a song for anyone who’s angry at being told they can’t make any sort of difference or can’t be a positive force for change,” says Doherty of the track. “I'd been getting really frustrated with this idea that as individuals our actions aren’t able to make a difference on the collective impact we're having on the world, the idea that we’re all destined to have a negative influence on the environment just by existing, and that everyone is equally guilty. But the song is intended to be broader than that, and to capture that feeling of frustration at being told what you're worth.”

“Everyone’s The Same” and “Octopus” were recorded in semi-locked-down London last summer with Mikko Gordon (Thom Yorke), their first time working with an outside producer.   The result showcases the band’s experimentation with more complex production as they introduce new textures, instrumentation and recording techniques to expand and further hone in on a sound that has always been unique to ISLAND
